Bishop of Eluru
Most Rev. Jaya Rao Polimera was born on August 27th , 1965 at Dharmasagar in Warangal district, Telangana, to late P. Yobu and Mariamma. He has three brothers and two sisters. He completed his primary and high school education at Dharmasagar.
He joined for the diocese of Warangal on June 10, 1981. During 1982-1984, he completed Pre University course at Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada. He completed his philosophy (1985-1991) and Theology at St. John’s Regional Seminary, Hyderabad. He was ordained Priest on April 2, 1992, at Fatima Cathedral, Warangal. During his stay in Hyderabad, he completed his post graduation in LLB. He is also a graduate in Karnatic classical music.
He completed his post graduation (M.A., Masters of Arts, Eng. Lit.), LLM (Masters / Corporation Law) and Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership Culture & Communications from Siena Heights University, USA – 1999-2002.
Ordained a priest in 1992 by Bishop Thumma Bala, Dr. Polimera embarked on a dedicated service to the Church, embodying compassion and spiritual guidance for his communities across various dioceses.

Throughout his priestly service, Dr. Polimera held various roles, including Assistant Parish Priest, Parish Priest, and Rector, dedicating his life to building strong communities both in India and the USA.

As a bishop, Dr. Polimera held key roles, including Chairman of several commissions, focusing on social issues, youth, and communications, while guiding the Church’s outreach and welfare initiatives.
Dr. Polimera’s recognition as a Bishop Delegate for the Synod of Bishops in Vatican City (2018) highlighted his influential role in the global Catholic Church and his dedication to spiritual development worldwide.
